Description
The LD Series uses differential pressure measurement — comparing the test cavity against a sealed reference volume — to achieve leak sensitivity more than 10 times higher than direct pressure methods. It is the preferred instrument for precision components, medical devices, and parts tested at low pressures where small leaks must be reliably detected.
How It Works
Both the test part and an identical reference cavity are pressurized simultaneously. Once isolated, any pressure differential between the two cavities indicates leakage in the test part. Because ambient temperature changes and supply pressure fluctuations affect both cavities equally, their effects are cancelled out — leaving only the signal from actual leakage. This bridge-compensation architecture dramatically improves signal-to-noise ratio without any additional conditioning hardware.

Model Selection
The LD Series is available in multiple full-scale pressure ranges to match your application. Common configurations cover 0–20 kPa (low-pressure medical) through 0–1200 kPa (automotive and industrial). Specify your required test pressure and leak limit when requesting a quote — our engineers will recommend the correct full-scale range and sensor pairing.
Typical Applications
- Precision medical soft tubing and catheter sealing
- Surgical clamp heads and drug vial caps
- Precision bearings and sealed mechanical components
- Low-pressure instruments (10 – 20 kPa test range)
- Any part where direct pressure methods produce unstable or noisy readings
Why LD over LY?
- 10× higher sensitivity: Detect leaks that are invisible to direct pressure instruments
- Noise rejection built in: Common-mode cancellation removes temperature and supply pressure interference without software correction
- Same footprint: Drop-in replacement for LY on any fixture or production station that requires tighter leak limits
- Low-pressure capable: Reliable detection at test pressures as low as a few kPa
