Description

The LF Series measures actual volumetric flow rate under controlled pressure conditions — making it the right instrument when you need to verify flow characteristics, not just the presence or absence of a leak. It is widely used for medical tubing, breathable membranes, micro-valves, and any application where a specific flow range defines product acceptability.

How It Works

The test part is pressurized to a stable setpoint. The LF's mass flow sensor then measures the steady-state volumetric flow through (or from) the part. Results are expressed in L/min or sccm. Upper and lower flow limits define the OK/NG window — parts that flow too freely (excess leakage) or too restrictively (blocked path) are both rejected. Unlike pressure decay methods, the LF directly characterizes the flow behavior of the part regardless of internal volume variations.

Typical Applications

  • Medical IV tubing, catheters, and drug delivery micro-channels
  • Automotive in-cabin refrigerator capillary tubes
  • Breathable and waterproof membranes (PTFE, Gore-Tex equivalents)
  • Copper and aluminum capillary tubes for HVAC and refrigeration
  • Micro-valves requiring specific flow resistance characterization

Why LF?

  • Direct flow measurement: Not affected by internal volume variability — measures actual flow, not inferred leakage
  • Validates both ends of the spec: Catches over-flowing (leaking) and under-flowing (blocked or restricted) parts simultaneously
  • 5 range options: Match the sensor to your expected flow window for maximum resolution
  • Medical-grade accuracy: Used in ISO 11608-validated catheter and drug packaging test lines
